Juneteenth
Complete with good eats, LIVE performances, art displays, vendors from local businesses and organizations, and activities!
Three years running
As Celebrating Juneteenth enters its 3rd year at the Strand Center for the Arts, we are standing strong in our mission to bring valuable, and enriching programming to our community to uplift and celebrate marginalized voices. Local artist, Winosha Steele began this event in 2023 with the goal of educating the community on Black American history and celebrating Black artistry and Black owned businesses.
“It is truly amazing to be able to acknowledge such an important piece of history in the form of an event in the local community. This exemplifies the growing diversity that encompasses this town. I have been inspired by this quote by Michelle Obama: ‘There are still many causes worth sacrificing for, so much history yet to be made.’ I am honored to be part of such history.” — Winosha Steele
Art, Food, Music, & MORE!
During our Celebrating Juneteenth event we have a variety of participants that educate and celebrate Black culture and history. This includes artists, musicians, comedians, and food business, some of which are local and some participants travel to be able to attend the event. Having such a diverse array of vendors helps this event flourish.
